Portraiture

My portraits are painted mainly with oil colours and my aim is to imitate realism as well as I can. I am trying to make an illusion of a depth with the colours and sharpness/blurriness of the lines. I am trying to hide brush strokes and make as smooth surfaces as possible. I guess this is called photorealism. I try to paint the people as true and beautiful as I see them. I believe into goodness and beauty in people and I cannot paint anyone in a dark way. It is possible to find beauty in every person. I love finding out where is the beauty laid in each of my models. Everybody has a good side/angle about them. It is up to an artist to bring the beauty out I believe. My portraits usually make people more beautiful then the photo ever could show. I do usually take around 300 photos of a person before I paint them to ensure I have found the best light and angle for the model. But I had to of course just choose from a couple of options if the person was deceased or if it was a surprise gift.
